Sasuke did not say anything but the look on his face was enough to tell Naruto what the Uchiha was thinking: "I didn't say I was the reason she was gone." The next thing Sasuke knew was the ramen bowl empty and Naruto saying, "Let's not talk here."
Sasuke nodded and stood up. It was not nice if anyone in Konoha realized that he - Uchiha Sasuke, the missing nin who fled to Orochimaru - was in town. It was indeed a good idea for them to talk some place else. Naruto walked a few paces forward before dashing out of Ichiraku. The Uchiha followed suit and they sprinted out of Konohagakure.
"Ah!" Naruto stretched as they came to a stop. They were in a clearing in the middle of a forest. It was very similar to where Kakashi-sensei first trained them with the bells and stuff. Sasuke looked around if anyone had seen or followed them. The wind blew and his dark robe flapped.
"It's been a long time since you've visited a place like this, ne, Sasuke?" Naruto began, putting his hands on his waist and looking at their surroundings, "I remember the last time Kakashi-sensei trained us with the bells when we got stro-- Oh, wait, you weren't there but Sakura-chan and I..."
"Naruto." Sasuke said in his usual flat voice.
Naruto turned to the Uchiha, raised an eyebrow and permitted himself a small pout. When Sasuke said nothing, Naruto plopped himself on the grass in a lazy sitting position.
"What is it that happened to Sakura?"
"Sakura... Disappeared." Naruto muttered."You already told me that. I want to know why."
"You know how Sakura-chan likes - loves - you, Sasuke." Naruto began, not stirring from his position as he looked up to the sky, "And since you left, a large part of her became sad. But don't think she'll always do the crazy stuff for you."
"Get to the point."
"Listen to me before saying anything, you..." Naruto growled at him and looked at the Uchiha with only his eyes moving, "Months before she became a missing nin, Orochimaru attacked Konohagakure."
Sasuke raised his head sharply.
"Orochimaru himself was there." The Kyuubi vessel said before Sasuke could say anything, "Yamanaka Ino was badly injured fighting and she still hasn't regained consciousness since."
"She's..."
"Right. Sakura-chan's best friend." Naruto turned his gaze towards Sasuke whose facial expression told him he was trying to guess what happened. Seeing the Uchiha silent, Naruto continued, "Sakura-chan was in rage because at that point, she thought Ino was dead. She charged at Orochimaru - at everyone in her way including Kabuto."
"What happened?" Sasuke asked, his eyes slowly being filled with the look of worry and question.
"The Snake got away, of course." Naruto replied and Sasuke nodded for him to continue. "But Sakura-chan was very, very furious. She wanted to chase after Orochimaru so badly, Tsunade had to detain her. She escaped, though, killing all that were in her way."
"She what?"
"It was really bloody. I wanted to go look for her but matters turned from bad to worse. The attacks became frequent… Tsunade even asked me to help protect the village." Naruto was seriously looking at Sasuke who was lost in the images forming themselves in her head. Stupid girl! Chasing after Orochimaru like that. And in this cloud of mind he muttered, "Sakura." He bit his lip and straightened before turning.
"Oi, oi...! Where are you going?" Naruto fidgeted.
"I will find Sakura. I will bring her back." Sasuke replied, not even turning to look at Naruto, "If Orochimaru has her, there's no telling… no tellling... what he... she..."
"I'm coming wi-"
"NO!" The young Uchiha's voice blasted uncommonly as he violently whipped towards Naruto who was in the motion to get up. Sasuke's eyes were wide and Naruto's mouth flung a bit open with a questioning look from the short outburst. Sasuke gained composure and said, "If you come with me, heck, if you're even just seen being "friendly" to me, you'll become a missing nin, too."
"Sasuke, I can't let you go back to Orochimaru... Even if it is to find Sakura."
"I'm not. If Orochimaru indeed attacks Konoha, then he'll do that job for me."
